Our Team
Who We Are
HealthCalculators is built by a small, independent team of developers and health-content researchers. We are not a corporation, a medical institution, or a marketing agency. We are people who believe that understanding your own health numbers should be free, private, and accessible to anyone with a browser.
Our team brings together backgrounds in software engineering, data analysis, and health-content research. Every calculator on this site is the result of reading original source papers, cross-validating formulas against established reference tools, and writing code that is transparent about what it computes and what it cannot.
We do not have a medical board, and we do not pretend to be doctors. What we offer is careful implementation of publicly available formulas from the World Health Organization, the U.S. CDC, the U.S. National Institutes of Health, and peer-reviewed journals — translated into browser-based tools that respect your privacy.
Our Approach
Every calculator begins with the original published formula, not a secondary source. We read the paper, understand the population it was validated on, note its limitations, and implement it faithfully. We then cross-validate output against published reference values to catch implementation errors before they reach users.
All calculations run in your browser. No data is sent to our servers. The optional AI Insight feature sends only computed numeric results (never personal identifiers) to generate a plain-English explanation, and nothing is stored. This is not a feature we added later — it is how the site was designed from the first line of code.
A formula is a model, not a measurement. Every calculator page names its formula, links to the source, and explains where the estimate is most and least reliable. We believe that understanding the limitations of a number is as important as the number itself. No calculator on this site will tell you it is “accurate to the decimal.”
Built With
These are the tools and standards we use to build and verify every calculator. We choose technologies that let us ship fast, stay transparent, and keep the site working for years with minimal maintenance overhead.
Why We Built This
Most health calculator sites fall into one of two camps: either they are ad-heavy content farms with minimal attention to accuracy, or they are locked behind paywalls and registration forms. We wanted a third option — a site that treats your health data with the same care a responsible clinician would, but without the cost, the waiting room, or the paperwork.
HealthCalculators is our answer. It is a work in progress, and we are adding new calculators and improving existing ones as we learn. If you have a suggestion, a correction, or a question, we would love to hear from you.
